How do I choose the most suitable school for me?
You can search for an Italian school, university for foreigners or school of art by area, or by type of course required, narrowing your search to the town or area or the type of course you wish to study. You can do this directly from the home page

Can I do more complicated searches?
Yes, by using the "advanced search".

Can I search for Italian schools by region?
Yes, in the "Search school by Italian map" section.

What differences are there between schools?
The main difference is that some Italian universities have degree courses for foreigners (Italian universities), others are foreign universities (especially American ones) who have Italian faculties (foreign universities), or who have recognised courses in Italian schools. All of the others are private schools offering language, arts, fashion design and photography courses specifically for foreign students.

How long do courses last?
Courses are of variable length. Normally, university courses (whether Italian universities or foreign universities in Italy) have courses which last approximately a semester, whilst private schools run courses which usually last between one and three months. Other specialist schools (fashion, design or photography) offer courses which last from one to three years.

How can I contact schools?
Once you have chosen a school or university, click on "Yes, Contact school!" You will then be able to fill in a form which will be sent to the school, as well as to other similar schools if you so choose.

What documents do I if I want to study in Italy?
Read the information given in this section and then apply to your nearest Italian consulate.

How much does it cost to study in Italy?
Costs vary greatly, depending on the school as well as the type of accommodation you choose. There are further variations in price depending on the city you choose: Florence, Rome and the artistic cities are generally more expensive places to live and to study than the south of Italy. However, courses cost on average around 500 Euros a month, whilst “living expenses” could be roughly 800-1000 Euros a month……but there are many exceptions!

Where can I find scholarships or discounts on courses?
First of all, check the latest scholarship news and special offers in our “scholarships” section. You can also find out what is available directly from each school’s prospectus. We also suggest that you contact your nearest Italian culture centre because many schools and universities send them their offers and scholarship details.

I don’t speak much Italian. Will that be a problem?
No. English is usually spoken in all schools, as well as other languages (Spanish, French, German….) so teachers on these courses are well used to dealing with multilingual classes. However, if you wish to try an online Italian course before arriving in Italy, you could for instance try www.italianforyou.com

I have more questions. Who can I contact?
Please feel free to use our “personal assistant” service to help with your choice of school as well as any concerns or questions you may have.
